My CSA vets were from Tenn. and Texas as far as their service was concerned. But one of my Texas vets was born in 1841, Randolph Co., Alabama: Pvt. Amos Jackson Willingham, Co. E, 14th Texas (Dismounted) Cavalry, Ector’s Brigade, McCown’s Division, Earl Van Dorn’s Army of the West, CSA. This unit fought in Tenn., headquartered at Shelbyville, at Corinth, Miss., and at Atlanta, and Shiloh. Amos married Ann Elizabeth Mathis from Tippah Co., Miss. Returned home to live at Shady Grove, adjoining Pritchett, near Gilmer, Upshur Co., Texas. And so I honor him and the South with my membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans, Camp #2034, Franklin, Tenn.
