Bell, George, Corporal: enlisted in Lenoir County, June 9, 1863, for the war.  Appointed 
Corporal prior to Dec 31, 1863. Present or accounted for until transferred to Co. D, 67th 
Reg NC Troops on January 18, 1864

-Vol. VIII, pages 31-32; George Bell, Co. C, 27th Regt.

enlisted at Fort Lane on Aug. 3 1861.  Discharged April 3, 1863.  Reason discharged not 
reported.  Later served as Corporal in Co. D 1st Battalion NC, Local Def. Troops.

-Vol. XV, pages 449-450; George Bell, Co. D, 67th Regt.
Co. D, 67 NC Troops, Bell, George, Private, previously served in Co. D, 1st Battalion NC 
Local Defense Troops.  Transferred to this company on January 18, 1864, Mustered in as 
Corporal.  Reported present or accounted for through June 30, 1864.  Reduced to ranks 
subsequent to June 30, 1864.  Records of the Federal Provost Marshal indicate that he 
was a deserter who was captured at Kinston on March 18, 1865.  No further records.

-Searched State Auditor, 1885 Pension Act and State Auditor, 1901 Pension Act without 
finding George Bell.
