Job Mercer, Private
Company I, 9th Regiment N.C.S.T. (1st Regiment N.C.Cavalry.)
Resided in Duplin County where he enlisted at age 30, February 16, 1862 for the war.  
Captured at Gettysburg, Pa., July 3-5, 1863 and confined at Fort Delaware, Del., where he 
died September 25, 1863 of "acute dysentery" and was buried in the National Cemetery, 
Finn's Point, Salem, N.J.
