JOHN BURGESS FORCUM, Capt., C.S.A., Co H, 4th  Regiment of North Carolina 
Troops, Brig General W.R. Cox's Brigade.  Enlisted May 16 1861 Iredell Co, NC. 
Wounded in Battle of Gettysburg on Jul 1, l863. Discharged Appomattox Court 
House Apr 9, l865. Capt Forcum was in every engagement that the Army of Northern 
Virginia fought during the war. Capt Forcum was in command of the entire regiment 
(4th NC) at the time of Lee's surrender.  After the war, he moved to Montezuma, IA, 
with his brother William, (below) and raised a large family.  In old age he moved to 
Chico (City), Butte Co., CA where he passed away 20 Sep 1920.
