Owen Fryar

OWEN FRYAR, Private 61st. Regiment, North Carolina Infantry

Owen Fryar was born 28 February 1840, the son of William Fryar and Molsey Gregory and the 
Grandson of Jonathan Fryar, RS.

Owen enlisted on April 20, 1861, along with his brothers Thomas and William.

Owen previously served as private in Capt. William S. Devane’s Independent Company, North 
Carolina Troops.
He transferred to this company on or about September 5, 1862.
Reported present through April 30, 1863.
Reported on duty as acting regimental mail agent in May and June 1863.
Transferred to Company C, 63rd. Regiment North Carolina Troops (5th Regiment North Carolina 
Cavalry) November 7, 1863.
Reported to hospital sick at Mount Pleasant, South Carolina in July and August 1864.
Survived the war.

Owen Fryar was married to Sallie Thomson daughter of Curtis Thomson and Sallie Grice
Owen died 14 March 1915 in Turkey.

Owen Fryar was my Great Granduncle.
