William Carteret Jones b. Sept 8, 1842 in Onslow Co., NC & died Jan 9, 1919 in New Bern, NC.
Buried Cedar Grove Cemetery in New Bern, NC

N. C. Troops 1861-1865 A. Roster - Raleigh, N. C. State Div. of Archives & History.
William C. Jones, Private
Resided in Craven Co. and enlisted in Onslow Co at age 19 - July 1, 1861 for the war. Captured & 
paroled at Chancellorsville, Va on May 4, 1863.  Wounded at Gettysburg, Pa. on July 2, 1863.  
Captured at Spotsylvania Court House, Va. on May 12, 1864 and confined at Point Lookout, 
Maryland.  Transferred to Elmira, N. Y. after taking oath of Allegiance on June 12, 1865.
 
Copy of Widow's Pension is dated July 7, 1919.
