Curtis Simpson - Onslow Co, NC enlisted in Richlands, NC on March 27, 1862 in a 
company called the "Alexander Boys"  Company H, 55th Regiment, NC

Curtis Simpson, Private

Born in Craven County on May 15, 1844.  Resided in Onslow County and was by occupation
a farmer prior to enlisting in Onslow County at age 17, March 27, 1862.  Reported present
in June, 1862.  Hospitalized at Petersburg, Virginia, January 21, 1863, with intermittent
fever.  Furloughed for 30 days on April 6, 1863.  Hospitalized at Richmond, Virginia,
February 15, 1864, with rheumatism. Furloughed for 30 days February 24, 1864.  Reported
absent without leave on July 10, 1864.  Returned to duty prior to November 1, 1864.
Wounded in the head and captured at or near Sutherland's Station, Virginia, April 1, 1865.
Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, April 5, 1865.  Released at Point Lookout on June 20, 1865,
after taking the Oath of Allegiance.
